At Aloha Pediatric Dentistry , we want every visit to be calm, positive, and even a little fun! Here's how you can help us make your child's filling experience a great one.
⏰ Why Morning Appointments?
We schedule fillings in the morning because kids do best when they’re rested, fresh, and relaxed! 🌞
🧸 What Will Happen During the Visit?
Before anything starts:
- Our friendly team will show and explain each step using gentle, non-scary language.
- We’ll demonstrate tools and materials so your child knows what to expect!
💬 What Should I Tell My Child?
Keep it simple and positive:
- Say: “You have a tiny hole in your tooth. The dentist will use a special brush to clean it and fill it up.”
- Avoid: Using the word “shot” — instead, we call it “sleepy juice” or “sleepy water” 💤💉 (It sounds friendlier, and most kids don’t even notice the injection!)
❤️ Stay Positive!
Kids can sense their parents’ anxiety, so try to:
- Stay calm and confident
- Avoid scary words like “hurt” or “I’m sorry”
- Say things like:
- ✅ “You’re doing amazing!”
- ✅ “I’m so proud of you!”
- ✅ “You’re such a great helper!”
- ✅ “You’re doing amazing!”
👶 What About Siblings?
To help your child feel safe and focused:
- Try to make other arrangements for siblings if possible
- If they need to come along, please keep them in the waiting room with a parent
💊 After the Appointment
- Your child might be a little numb — this is totally normal!
- The doctor may recommend Tylenol or ibuprofen. If so, please bring it with you.
- Offer soft foods after the appointment like:
- 🥣 Soup
- 🥛 Yogurt
- 🍓 Smoothies
- 🧀 Mac & cheese
- 🥣 Soup
- Heading to school after? Pack soft snacks and lunch!
